Dr. Amanda Atwell Peters - Principal

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Amanda Atwell Peters as the new principal of Washington High School!

Dr. Peters earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in Child Development, her Master of School Administration, and her Doctor of Education from East Carolina University. She is also licensed in Academically and Intellectually Gifted Education, holds a Curriculum and Instruction Specialist license, and recently obtained her North Carolina Superintendent's license. With more than 20 years of experience in education, Dr. Peters has served as a classroom teacher, school administrator, district AIG coordinator, and most recently as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Beaufort County Schools before joining Washington High School as principal.

Throughout her career, Dr. Peters has been passionate about building strong school communities where students, staff, and families feel valued and supported. She believes in leading with transparency, collaboration, and high expectations while fostering a culture centered on meaningful relationships, academic excellence, and continuous growth.

As she begins this new chapter at Washington High School, Dr. Peters is excited to lead the Pam Pack and work alongside dedicated educators, students, families, and the community to build on the school's proud traditions while creating new opportunities for success. She looks forward to cultivating a culture where every member of the Pack feels connected, empowered, and inspired to achieve their full potential.
